2010 Motor Trend Truck of the Year at Oxford Dodge

Motor Trend magazine has awarded the Heavy Duty Ram 2010 Truck of the Year. The Ram beat the Ford F-150 Raptor, Ford Transit and Toyota Tundra in the finals taking 71% of first place votes. A number of improvements were implemented over the 2009 model.

The first change to catch your eye is the all new sheet metal. Front end styling is based on the 2009 Ram 1500 with some subtle differences. The grille is larger to accomodate the diesel engine cooling components and the bumper has a large access slot for available winch and tow hooks. The ‘dually’ fenders are now integral in the box rather than being attached to the standard side panel. For the first time a crew cab is available with 15 cm more length than the quad cab it replaces. The new Crew Cab is available with a 6’4″ or 8′ box. Largest in class Mega cab is still available with a 6’4″ box and the regular cab comes with the 8′.

Under the hood the legendary Cummins 6.7 litre turbo diesel is the engine of choice. Still years ahead of the diesel competition the Cummins durability and fuel economy are unmatched in the heavy duty truck segment. The 650 ft/lb of torque at 1500 RPM also sets the pace for the field. The 5.7 litre Hemi is standard equipment with horsepower rated at 383 and 400 ft/lb of torque.

Towing capacity and payload ratings increase by over 5% on both the 2500 and 3500 series 2 or 4 wheel drive. A built-in brake controller is available mounted left of the steering column with display in the cluster. The diesel Ram offers the only standard equipment engine brake in the industry for safer stops and increased brake pad life.

Price reductions accross the board compared to 2009 models make the 2010 Heavy Duty the true class leader. For a first look at the much anticipated HD Ram contact Oxford Dodge at 519-473-1010 or visit their website www.oxforddodge.com
